Our medical physician is able to prescribe medications to help relieve the pain and muscle spasms from your injury and make you more comfortable while you recover and heal. Typical medications prescribed following a whiplash injury include:

Nonsteroidal Anti-inflammatory Drugs (NSAIDs) to relieve pain and reduce inflammation following an injury.

Acetaminophen (Tylenol) to relieve pain. Acetaminophen does not have anti-inflammatory effects.

Muscle Relaxers such as methocarbamol (Robaxin), cyclobenzaprine (Flexeril), metaxalone (Skelaxin), orphenadrine (Norflex), and tizanidine (Zanaflex) to help relieve the muscle spasms associated with spinal injuries.

Narcotic Analgesics to relieve the more severe pain not controlled with the above medications. These usually come combined with acetaminophen. The most commonly prescribed are those containing hydrocodone (Lortab, Lorcet and Vicodin), oxycodone (Percocet and Roxicet) or propoxyphene (Darvocet).
